Leavenworth Homes
Leavenworth is a very desirable place to live. It is one of Washington State's most scenic cities, with a wide variety of events and activities for all seasons and for people of all ages. The city is within commuting distance of Wenatchee, which is twenty-two miles east, and is about a 2.5-hour drive from Seattle, making it close enough for a weekend destination from the Puget Sound area.

Home prices can range greatly in the Leavenworth area. The most desirable places to live are properties that have mountain views, are on the Wenatchee River, or on Icicle Creek. The most valuable homes in the area can run in the millions of dollars. To the north, Lake Wenatchee, Fish Lake, and Plain are also popular places for homes or cabins. The most affordable housing is typically the smaller, older homes in the city, many of which are nearly one hundred years old. For new prospective homebuyers to the area, they should visit several different times during the year prior to purchasing. Leavenworth averages ninety-five inches of snowfall a year, which can be quite an adjustment for a newcomer from a more moderate climate.
Housing prices increased dramatically in Leavenworth at the beginning of the 21st century. In town, condominiums and town home developments were built to meet the demand and prices escalated. Since 2007, prices have decreased but housing remains expensive in Leavenworth, relative to the rest of Washington State. The median price of a home in Leavenworth is about $300,000, which is considerably more than Wenatchee, a much larger nearby city, which is at about $200,000. Nevertheless, Leavenworth is a fantastic place to buy a home!
