October is a great time to visit Leavenworth. Clear cool autumn days make the area’s spectacular foliage shine. But the biggest attraction during the month is Oktoberfest. The city’s hallfeste venue is front and center for live music, German food and beer. The event also includes arts and crafts, a used Bavarian clothing sale, and musical groups from the United States and Germany. All this in combination with the beautiful fall colors makes Leavenworth’s Oktoberfest a great tradition!

Oktoberfest is always held during the first three weekends of October. The event is so popular that it is considered the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Munich, Germany, with over fifteen thousand visitors over the three-weekend celebration. The city’s restaurants and bars also feature more German food and beer. Locals and Bavarian natives really get into the spirit and it is not uncommon to see attendees dressed in traditional Bavarian attire. Many visitors also take home large Oktoberfest mugs. Oktoberfest in Leavenworth is the next best thing to being in Munich!
