Leavenworth Summer

A Leavenworth summer is not to be missed. The city's long, warm summer days attract many visitors.

Weekends in the city can be very crowded as visitors flock to festivals, nearby camping, and recreation on the Wenatchee River and in the Cascade Mountains.

Kinderfest

During the summer, Highway 2 can back up several blocks trying to get through the city in either direction.

Popular summer activities in Leavenworth include: rafting, inter–tubing, hiking, bicycling, golfing, and summer theater.

JULY EVENTS

In July, the city holds a Kinderfest and 4th of July celebration with family fun, free refreshments, and balloons. There is not an organized fireworks show due to fire hazzard as Leavenworth lies in hot and dry summer pine forest terrain.

The Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival featuring classical, jazz and bluegrass also occurs.

AUGUST EVENTS

In August, the city hosts an Acoustic Music Festival featuring folks, jazz, and bluegrass in Waterfront Park.

Other August events include the Leavenworth Wine Tasting Festival, which also has art booths and great live music. And there's also Art in the Park, which is the Pacific Northwest's longest running juried outdoor art show.

September Events

In September, Leavenworth begins celebrating the arrival of the fall season. It hosts the Wenatchee River Salmon festival, celebrating the return of the salmon.

The event has hands on activities, educational exhibits, live music, and arts and crafts.

Other September events include the Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival and the Leavenworth Fall Music Festival, which takes place at and is a fundraiser for the Leavenworth Ski Hill.
